Class notes by William Buchanan Conway, Washington University of Baltimore class of 1869. Dr. Conway was born in Virginia in 1845, following graduation from the Washington University of Baltimore in 1869 he returned to Virginia to practice medicine. He died in Georgia in 1920.
This volume contains class notes for the session 1867-1868. The volume includes notes from the following courses and faculty: Principles and Practice of Medicine with Professor J.P. Logan, Principles and Practice of Surgery with Professor Edward Warren, Medical Chemistry and Pharmacy, Descriptive and Surgical Anatomy with A.J. Foard, Materia Medica and Therapeutics with Professor Joseph Clagett, Obstetrics with Professor Harvey L. Byrd, Medical Jurisprudence with Professor J.F. Monmonier, and Physiology and General Pathology with John F. Monmonier. Included in notes are caricatures of the faculty presumably drawn by Conway.
Notes have been edited using Adobe Photoshop to make them easier to read.
The document was missing the following pages: 18-19 (appear to have been torn out), 38-39, 44-45, 48-59, 64-65, 82-83, 90-97, 124-131, and 138-139. Page 46 is torn in half and the reverse page 47 has been crossed out with 187 written over that number. Page 63 has been completely crossed out. Pages 84-89 are no longer bound into the volume and are completely crossed out. Page 116 was upside down in the volume, it has been flipped for legibility purposes. The pages at the end of the volume are of different size and lining then the rest of the volume and are perhaps different handwriting.
The volume includes dates from 1867 to 1869 despite the session dates of 1867-1868.
